About Our Team In Columbus



Lauren.jpgLauren has been with the Pediatric Dental Clinic since May 2007. Lauren's wealth of knowledge from being in the practice for so many years makes her extremely valuable and helpful in so many areas. She is our Patient/ Hospital Coordinator and handles our outpatient surgery scheduling for the Columbus and the Corinth offices as well as insurance authorization for these outpatient procedures. Other responsibilities include managing accounts for both the Columbus office and the Corinth office, communicating with insurance companies when needed, and answering the phone and helping with daily office needs. Lauren is CPR certified. She is married to Chris and has three beautiful daughters, Ali, Emily, Ashley, and two wonderful step children, Ethan, and Evan.



Susan.jpgSusan first started with our team in August 1992. After encouragement from Dr. Curtis and his wife, Pat, she ventured into using her initial degree in Elementary Education and taught for 22 years. In June of 2014 after retiring from teaching, she returned to our team. Susan wears several hats in the office. She is responsible for helping to be a liaison between our in-house IT help and all of our software companies, maintaining our website, confirming appointments, answering phones, scheduling referrals, and obtaining authorizations from insurances for in office treatments. Susan is certified in CPR. Away from work, Susan spends most of her time with her husband, Forrest, and children, Heath and Haley Marie. She loves to kayak, hike, play board games, and watch college football.



Emily.jpgEmily joined our team in 2009.  Emily is well versed when it comes to the ins and outs of the clinical side  as well as the front office procedures and policies of the Pediatric Dental Clinic.  Emily helps to assist Dr. Curtis with treatments and cleanings as well as helps maintain the flow of patients throughout the clinic.  Emily has exceptional expertise when is comes to appliances for use with children.  Emily is certified in dental radiography and CPR. She loves living in Mississippi where her husband, Matt, serves as an officer in the National Guard. Emily and Matt have two fun, loving sons, Rush and Hayes.  In her spare time, which is not much, Emily enjoys spending time with family and friends, shopping, and loves tailgating at Mississippi State University during football season.  Hail State!



Krystal.jpgKrystal brought a wealth of experience from various areas when she joined our team in February 2015. Krystal has an Associate of Arts from East Mississippi Community College and an Associates of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology from Itawamba Community College. She worked for five years at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Krystal is certified in dental radiography and CPR. She can be found assisting Dr. Curtis on a daily basis as well as ordering and keeping the clinic stocked with all necessary supplies from paper for the front office to toothpaste and floss in the clinical area. Krystal meets with sales reps on a regular basis determining what is best for both the Columbus and the Corinth office and what is best for the needs of all of patients. Krystal has a precious daughter, Kinsley, who is her world. Raising a child and being a Mother gives Krystal very little free time. Krystal is engaged to Shane and looks forward to the life ahead.



Betty.jpgBetty joined our team in October 2000. She is responsible for instrument sterilization, equipment maintenance, and overall environmental sanitation. She is also certified in dental radiography as well as CPR. Betty is excellent with children, especially when obtaining radiographs. Her precision to detail and cleanliness helps to make her a valuable team member who is greatly missed when she takes a month vacation each year to visit her sister, brother-in-law, nieces, and nephews in Alaska. While not at work, she spoils her Chihuahua, Scooter, and spends time with family.



Katie.jpgKatie has been with us since November 2016 helping children learn how to improve their oral hygiene while also assisting the doctors with treatment. Katie is lead surgical dental assistant. She assists with almost all the Columbus surgery cases at the hospital for Dr. Curtis and Dr. Katie. Katie also helps manage the office's Facebook page. She is certified in both CPR and dental radiography. She has a Bachelors of Arts and Science from Mississippi State University - GO BULLDOGS! She has a passion for helping others and working with children. Katie is very involved with her church and leads a small group Bible study. When not at work or church, Katie loves to spend time at the river! Katie is blessed with a wonderful husband, Coleman.



MorganOur office has been blessed with this hard-working team member from across the state line. Morgan is a graduate of Wallace State in Alabama with a degree in dental assisting. She is certified in dental radiography and in CPR. Before deciding on a life long career in dental assisting, Morgan worked for many years in the banking industry giving her valuable people skills she now uses in our office. She is a die-hard Alabama fan, as well as, an Atlanta Braves fan. She loves taco, sushi, and the beach. She also loves her church family at Friendship Baptist Church and has recently become passionate about pursing a healthy lifestyle in regards to eating and working out.



DestinyAfter graduating in 2013 and eventually marrying her high school sweetheart, Austin, Destiny found herself drawn to professions that serve children. For years working in childcare seemed to be her calling. After her sweet baby girl, Emberly, was born, she found herself wanting to be part of our team. She is in the process of obtaining her radiology license and is already CPR certified. Destiny can be found assisting the doctors with treatment and cleanings as well as helping to contact patients who are past due for cleanings. She loves spending time at the river in the Spring/Summer and loves a good car race or football game during the Fall/Winter. Roll Tide from Destiny!



AmberOriginally from Tennessee, Amber has a vast experience working with people of all ages. After spending time at East Mississippi Community College, Amber decided being a stay at home Mom was best for her. After spending a year at home with her precious son, Carter, Amber decided something was missing and has found it working with us here at Pediatric Dentistry of Columbus. Amber is certified in CPR and dental radiography. She loves being a team player and works incredibly well in many facets of the office which makes her very valuable. She assists with the Columbus surgery cases at the hospital for Dr. Curtis and Dr. Katie. As well as enjoying her little boy, she and her husband, Austin, enjoy spending time with friends and family, and love a Friday or Saturday night at the racetracks.



Ashley-(Mitchell)Loving to shop, travel, and owning her own boutique while going to college worked well for Ashley. But, after graduating from East Mississippi Community College with an associates degree in medical billing and codes, Ashley decided she could do her boutique online and travel to festivals on the weekends and use her degree if she found the right job. She found us! Ashley is responsible for managing the front desk which involves checking patients in, checking codes, reviewing online new patient forms, and most importantly being the first person people see when they enter our office. She is a die hard Alabama fan; so, she does not have to worry about a bunch of 18 and 19 year old young men ruining her weekends like the rest of us!



JordanJordan joined the team in July 2018 after being a manager at her old job for 5 years. Her love for children and the flexibility of this job, while being a wife to Coby and Mom to Steeler and Beckham, was extremely important. Jordan works as a dental assistant while also helping manage patients who are past due for cleanings. She is CPR certified as well as certified in dental radiology. Jordan loves the simple things of life...football, baseball, softball, riding four-wheelers, grilling, and snack time! Jordan doesn't have to worry about an alarm clock, besides the having two children she has two roosters- Cook-a-doodle-doo!



Kerigan ColumbusWhile going to East Mississippi Community College to get her basics before going to school to be a dental hygienist, Kerigan decided what better training than to work as a dental assistant! Her love of children guided her to us at Pediatric Dentistry of Columbus. Kerigan can be found assisting the doctors with cleanings and treatments. Being CPR certified and certified in dental radiology makes Kerigan a huge asset to the team of dental assistants. A few of her favorite things...Jesus, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Taco Bell, and the beach!
